It is doubtful that you will find a more competitive person than Raymond at ANYŻbird show, it is also doubtful that you will find a person more willing to congratulate someone who has 'benched' a better bird. A rare combination to find in an individual, and one of the WCBA's most dedicated and successful fanciers. Ray has been in the fancy for over 15 years, through which time he has build a stud of birds that would be envied by anyone. Although he has a variety of colours, his passion is for 'type', which is a bird of any colour which shows the true characteristics of body structure, feather and peak condition. These are all the elements which come together to produce consistent winners, and Ray has done this. In the past 15 years the Watson stud has become well known as a top quality stud, which consistently produces topnotch birds.

Ray's stud consists of 100 to 200 birds, and was initially started in partnership with his father Ray Watson Sr. Together the team or Ray and Ray (known as R & R Aviaries) built an outstanding stud of birds. There particular interest initially was Lutinos, and together they won a Canadian Championship with what was one of the most outstanding Lutinos cock birds ever to grace a show bench. Since Ray Senior's premature passing in 1997, Ray (Jr.) has continue the R & R tradition of top quality birds. He has exhibited his birds at the 'Great Western' show in California, and has done very well indeed, against some of the toughest competition in the US (a tribute to the quality and his dedication).

Ray has one of the largest bird rooms anywhere, at approximately 1000 square feet. This amount of room means his birds have large flights with plenty of room for exercise. The building would accommodate triple the amount of birds he keeps, but Ray contends that in order to maintain the quality he must concentrate on his top 100 - 200 birds, otherwise he will begin to dilute the quality. If you would like to contact Ray, please call him at (604) 533-5303 or email at rawatson@telus.net... be sure to mention you saw his name on this Web site.
